******************
MY BELOVED
******************
There was a time in my youth,
When Islam was only a custom.
They said "say La IIaha IIIa Allah,..
And pray, you'll go to Heaven."
************************************************** **
Ah, how simple, no struggle in this,
Just a word, and simple act.
Thereafter I'm absorbed in this world again,
With my 'assured' place in Paradise intact.
************************************************** ***
But this was not to be my fate
For ALLAH chose to guide my heart.
I learnt of a man who struggled so hard
When his mission was from the start.
************************************************** ****
The story of someone who had morals,
Spoke gently, kindness he knew.
Never fearing to say what's right,
His conviction in ISLAM was true.
************************************************** ****
The touch of his hand was as soft as silk
To comfort a crying child.
To mend his clothes, or do the chores,
Never complaining, he always smiled.
************************************************** ****
A living he made with his bare hands,
The same that held his mighty sword.
Valour shone from the edge of his blade,
************************************************** ****
His smell was always of musk,
And cleanliness he kept at his best.
Stark contrast with the heroes of today,
Who stink of beer and sweat.
************************************************** ****
He held the hands of his companions.
Unashamed to play with many children.
So modest, so humble, a perfect example,
That strangers could not recognise him.
************************************************** ****
His eyes slept little for nights were precious,
His prayers he treasured much greater.
To pray Tahajjud in the depths of night,
Seeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator.
************************************************** ****
He broke his tooth for me at Uhud,
And bled for me at Ta'if.
He cried for me, tears of concern,
Just so I could have this belief.
************************************************** ****
His enemies admired his teachings,
Uniting every religion, every clan.
Till ISLAM came to every corner of the world,
O, but indeed he was only a man.
************************************************** ****
To own a house, or build his wealth
Was not his main priority.
To establish ISLAM was more essential,
To bring us under a Higher Authority.
************************************************** ****
Don't you want him to plea for your case,
When before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand?
Don't you wish to be around his fountain,
A burning desire to drink from his hand?
************************************************** ****
So I love him more than all creation,
My Leader, my Humble Prophet.
Muhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind,
And to me, he is ************
MY BELOVED !

The Veil
"Oh, poor girl, you're so beautiful you know
It's a shame that you cover up your beauty so."
She just smiles and graciously responds reassuringly,
"This beauty that I have is just one simple part of me.
This body that I have, no stranger has the right to see.
These long clothes, this shawl I wear, ensure my modesty.
Faith is more essential than fashion, wouldn't you agree?
This hijab,
This mark of piety,
Is an act of faith, a symbol,
For all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to protect her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity.
They tell her, "Girl, don't you know this is the West and you are free?
You don't need to be opressed, ashamed of your femininity."
She just shakes her head and she speaks so assuredly,
"See the bill-boards and the magazines that line the check-out isles, with their phony painted faces and their air-brushed smiles?
Well their sheer clothes and low cut gowns are really not for me.
You call it freedom, I call it anarchy."
This hijab,
This mark of piety,
Is an act of faith, a symbol,
For all the world to see.
A simple cloth, to protect her dignity.
So lift the veil from your heart to see the heart of purity.
Lift the veil from your heart and seek the heart of purity.

The Map to Paradise
By Masood
Its hard for a bird to fly through the air with water on its wings.
What about us flying to Jannah, when its the whole world that we cling?
We have the map to Paradise, yet behind our backs it gets hurled.
The path to Jannah gets abandoned out of love for this world.
Left and right Muslims are selling their faith for temporary pleasures.
Because many have lost sight of the Jannah and its everlasting treasures.
There's only one path to Paradise, and following vain desires is not the way.
Its time to turn back to Allah's map, there's more to this life then just play.
Its a blessing to be a Muslim; considering how many others are lost.
Yet the title of a Muslim is nothing if our submission we have tossed.
This life is so short; come on listen up, this aint some sort of joke.
If we don't get our acts together, in the next life we may go up in smoke.
Lets turn back to Allah, come on, lets not waist another day.
Lets get back on track. Oh Allah, from the true path, don't let us sway!
Lets seek our help from Allah, we got to follow Him as much as we can.
If your not using the map to Jannah; where are you going, what's your plan?
This life is so short, lets wake up and see where were heading.
We have the map to Paradise, so on it lets get up and start treading.
The web of a spider is weak, yet it overpowers the fly.
This dunyah is worthless, so don't let its web catch your eye.

Sometimes I think about
the moment of no doubt
the fate that reached every
tall short person
thin be he, or stout
when it came it just came
just like that
the intensity of the pain
unconcievable by the brain
they said it was like
70 swords aimed to strike
how can I bear that if
when only by a cut,
my arm will get so stiff
How will i act.....
What will I say....
I can't just run away
from facing that day
All I can do is Pray
to Allah everyday
in hope that he may
make it a simple day
I heard that some hallucinated
and from the pain
commited blasphemy
now.... I really won't like
that to happen to me
at least because
at that moment of pain
I'll be under so much strain
that caring about someone else
would be the least
Will I go to Janah
what my soul always desired?
or will I be sent
directly to the hellfire?
........just like that
My soul always tells me:
"No ,that won't happen to you....
you are a pious man
with a heart
overflown with Iman
Allah will spare you
from the pain"....
But how can that be true....
When the Prophet sent to you
better than you and him.....
peace be upon him
suffered these moments too
.....just like that
Or are you better than him?!?!?
So my advice for you
......and for me too
is to stick to The Book
sent by The Creator of man
(and every other thing)
The Holy Quran
and read a part daily ,
at least one chapter
this insha Allah
is good for the Hereafter
not only reading....
....understanding too
Quran and Sunnah ...
stick to these two
Is it too hard
to do that at once?
Well, ... and so is
... entering Paradise
So DO IT ........
that is my advice...
.....just like that
and pray for the person
who wrote this poem
so he won't be punished
..... just like that

Ya Ramadan!, by Noor Syed
In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
A blessed month is casting its shadow upon us
شهر رمضان يطل علينا بظلاله
A night of this month is better than a thousand months
وليله فيه خيرا من الف شهر
Bear with patience for the sake of Ar-Rahman
ويحتمل الصبر لاجل رمضان
It's a continuous training to strengthen our Imaan.
في تدريب متواصل لمدي ايماننا
Glory be to Allah who sent Ramadan as a mercy to mankind
الشكر لله الذي ارسل رمضان رحمه للانسان
Its a purification of our soul, our heart, and our mind
تطهير الروح
القلب
والعقل
With the most sincere devotion and love we fast
وبخالص النيات والحب نصوم
To be cleansed and free from sins of the past
لنتطهر وننقي من الذنوب
Glorified is He, who choseth this holy month,
الحمد لله الذي اختار هذا الشهر المبارك
To test our sabr and fill our hearts with warmth
ليختبر صبرنا وقلوبنا بالدفء
Of his Divine Light, His blessings shall glow,
يتنزل نوره
وبركاته تتوهج انوراها علينا
The Seer of the unseen, all He does know
عالم الغيوب
ويعلم كل شي
Ya Allah! For thee, let my breath be more pleasant than musk
يا الله دع نفسي اطيب من ريح المسك
Ya Allah! For thee, let me be thankful when day turns to dusk
يالله دعني اشكرك في يوم الرخاء حتي تجيرني يوم الشده
My thoughts and heart are purified, my eyes truly see'
ان تفكيري وقلبي خالص وعيوني تري حقيقه
This blessed month, the month of spiritual rhapsody!
بركات هذا الشهر
شهر التناغم الروحي
Ya Allah! For thee, my life I shall live!
لاجل حياتي التي اعيشها
Ya Allah! For thee, my soul I shall give!
لاجل روحي التي اعطيها
In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind,
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Praise be to Allah, who sent Ramadan as a gift to mankind
الشكر لربي كاتب الشهر العظيم

Choice
Poem written by: Maymoonah MS Adly
I see you doing wrong,
You say you're not so strong,
To fight against shaytan.
Your evil desires drag you along.
Mankind and jinn have one thing in common.
They differ from Allah's other creation.
The animals, trees, birds, bees and everything existing,
fallow Allah's decree.
As people you and I should agree,
That we all have the ability ,to choose.
Allah show us right.
Allah shows us wrong.
He gives us a brain, a mind.
Now its up to us to choose,
what we have to do.
If we choose to do right,
Allah will give us guidance,
And bring us into the light.
He would grant us everlasting paradise and delight.
If we chose to do wrong,
Evil will turn us down a road of darkness ,confusion, and frustration.
A road that leads to a terrible destination.
The fires of hell are wicked and mercyless.
Only you could put your self in this.
The choices you make,
The things you choose,
must not be taken lightly, must not be abused.
Everyday every hour every minute of your life, You're making choices.
What will I wear?
What will I say?
Should I say anything?
Should I sit here?
Or talk to them?
Or eat this?
Or buy that?
Allah will ask us: what did we sing, learn, watch, say and do?
"Why did you lie?" "Why did you curse?"
"Why did you wear that tight skirt and shirt?"
Did Allah not give you all all that you need?
So that you must commit sins and bad deeds?
There is no excuse for the evil you do.
Do not talk foolishness when you know the truth.
You cannot lie to Allah.
He knows all that you do.
If you love Allah fully and true,
Try your up most to please him,
and pray for him to be pleased with you.

Welcome sis
It is really nice
I am so glad that you are here
Ramadan is Here!!,
by Asma Sadia
One night I heard a knock on my door;
Who can it be,I wasn't quite sure.
I open the door and am filled with glee;
The visitor ahead is no stranger to me.
I welcome the guest with utmost delight;
For I know it has come to give me respite.
An air of happiness fills the space;
My home now seems, a better place!
Have you any clue who this visitor could be?
Yes!its Ramadhan,the month of mercy.
The pious and righteous can't await its arrival;
Others seem to greet it, with waves of denial.
For Allah(SWT) we fast from dawn to dusk;
For Him our breath is the fragrance of musk.
The muslims who pray and fast with zest;
Are aware of the rewards of this month manifest.
Throughout this month we weep and repent;
Now is the time to strongly lament.
And those who shun this sacred month;
on the Day of Reckoning will face the brunt.
In the last ten nights,hides the Night of Decree;
Allah(SWT) then awaits for his slaves to plea.
The angels descend with Gabriel(AS) in the lead;
To check on the steadfast and record every deed.
A feeling of grief now fills my heart;
As the month of Ramadhan will soon depart.
So lets make a start and worship Him alone;
Now that the worth of this month is known.

Ramadan in the West, by Altaf Bhimji
A new night
beginning of the sacred month
the thin slice of the crescent
visible only a few minutes
to the naked eye
Awaiting the news, here, far away
in a land pretentiously secular
with In God We Trust
visited only on Sunday
Awaiting watching the Internet for the crescent news
And some calls made
Relatives far flung: Chicago, New York, London,
Frankfurt and Los Angeles
Yes! The crescent has been sighted! Ramadan Mubarakh!
Over miles and miles and miles of telephone lines
The masjid schedule consulted, and alarm clock set.
For the meal before first light
Work the next day, same tempo, same schedule.
The boss and co-workers say; "Oh, you're fasting?" "Why?"
Unable to comprehend the beauty of a simple ritual:
"Come, we're going to see a movie after work; we wont make you eat"(!)
Going home, 1/2 hour before sunset
from the 9-5 routine, never ending, never changing
Arriving home, break fast with some friends
meal ****ed the night before.
Remembrance of Ramadan in Karachi, Casablanca, Lahore, Cairo
and Dhaka
Tears, and anger expressed today: Murder and slaughter on this day!
Killed in prostration!
Where Abraham (peace be upon him) lies!
Martyrdom in a Holy month!
On Holy land!
And hope expressed: Our faith desecrated,
but,
fastest growing in America!
A simple prayer; perhaps one day we will fast in San Francisco,
as we fasted in Dhaka, Cairo, Lahore, Casablanca and Karachi
And the fast is broken
and later friends and family
mill around, some *******
others tired, angry, grieved
and all somber
on this day of Ramadan...
Peace

Ramadan Poem
by Donna Sibaai
The holy month of Ramadan
For all Muslims has begun.
Praising Allah through the day,
From dawn to dusk we fast and pray.
We pay zakah (charity) for those in need,
Trying hard to do good deeds.
When the sun has set, and day is done-
I'll break this chain, but only one.
By the end of Ramadan, this whole chain will be all gone!
It's time for Eid and lots of fun!!!
